In light of the decisions being made....
Opera is well known for turns ordinary personal love stories into epic melodrama’s but the opera I am working on this month takes the melodramatic and makes it personal.
The opera Dr Atomic is the story of the decisions that led to the detonation of the first atomic bomb. Composer, John Adams, choose to base his opera on a stormy night at the test centre in New Mexico in July 1945. In doing so he opens up our minds not just to the horror and reality of this weapon of mass destruction but to the very real human actions that led to the detonation.

It’s an intriguing production and I am delighted to be working as a stage manager for the BBC symphony Orchestra’s production this month.
