The Trumpets shall Sound
Like every professional classical trumpet player I have clocked up a fair few Messiah’s but it’s not often I get asked to pop in the fiddle parts too!
An evening’s work for a trumpeter playing Handel’s most loved work usually means a nice long dinner, a couple of smashing tunes and a slightly too long aria that, trust me, is much better without the D.C. So although Handel might be rocking in his grave I am quite excited about playing Denis Wright’s brass band version of the classic. If you are waving your authentic flag at me just have a listen to Black Dyke Mills’ Amen and tell me you aren’t moved.
So I’ll be sat in the flugel seat presumably playing some of those lovely oboe aria’s.
Come along and listen because in London you won’t get to hear this again for a very long time!
